February 2012

Well here we go again just a bit behind in the updates for 2011
we raised $500 for Plates4Japan for the tsunami relief effort
we raised a bit of money for the fringe festival, not sure how that worked
we sponsored Britannia micro soccer
we also sponsored ther lagerheads, a local adult baseball team
Overall it was another great year for Fets.

Now we're into 2012, we've had some spectacular weather as of late and we've just rolled out a new menu.

Helping with Japan

Everyone is aware of the troubles the residents of Japan are facing and we are trying to help out a bit.  Growing up in Vancouver, I know a number of people who are from or share their ancestry with Japan. On a personal note my grandfather was born in Japan, I've yet to visit the country but love the food, the culture and it's people.

We have partnered with a local group called Plates4Japan (plates4japan.com) and are raising money to be donated to The Red Cross for disaster relief in Japan.  On Tuesday April 12 we will be donating $2 from each entree sold and for the month of April we will be donating $0.50 per pint of Sapporo Draft beer sold.

Our hearts and thoughts go out to the residents of that country and to the brave souls who are doing their best to help those in need as everyone struggles to rebuild their lives and their country.

St Paddy's Day

This Thursday is St Paddy's Day on the Drive!

Come on down and have some Guinness stew, a pint of Guinness, a wee bit of Irish music and some good old fashioned Irish cheer.

Efes beer is sponsoring a pub crawl on Thursday on the drive for info and tickets go to www.thepubcrawl.ca for the details of the St. Paddy's Day pub crawl.

We''ll be showcasing our Irish Whiskies, Efes beer will be on special and everyone'll be Irish.

December is upon us

Wow, December is around the corner.  .  .  .  too quick

We changed up the menu in the fall but we have decided to go back to our roots and set the menu back where it belongs; old school.

We brought back some of our and your old favorites; Cajun Cream Chicken, Pesto Deluxe.  We also revamped the Gumbo it's made with andoulle sausage and is loaded with seafood; scallops, crab and shrimp.

New Menu

The months have passed and now it's September, and half way through at that.  The summer was incredible!  So a big thank you to all of our customers and friends.  To celebrate the end of summer, I know it's not over yet, but please indulge me, we have a new menu with a focus southern flavours.  Those of you that know Allura and myself, know we love hot spicy food and have worked with our chef to create some new menu items with a southern, and sometimes lightly smoked, flair.

World Cup on the Drive!

How crazy is World Cup Soccer?  Well let me tell you it's just plain crazy.  We've been open for the 7am games daily and tomorrow is the last one and once again we'll be full for breakfast and soccer.  Germany & Argentina square of for the last 7 am game and one of them will be eliminated in what will surely be one hell of a game. Today the Netherlands, or as i like to call them team Heineken, beat out Brazil in a wild game.

World Cup Soccer

World Cup Soccer starts in the morning and we will be there the whole time well except for those anoying 4:30am games, those we'll see or the replay later in the day.  We are going to open at 7am every day there is a game in that time slot.  Yeah I gaet to be at work early!  Just kidding it'll be a blast.

We've set a simplified menu for breakfast and are awaiting all of the other crazy people that want to watch early morning soccer on the Drive.

World Cup Soccer

June is here, but where is the weather?  Oh ya it's outside where I dare not go for fear of getting wet again, still and more of.  Don't worry it will get better, it will warm up and the sun will shine, I think it's peaking out and teasing us today.  Oh well by the time the world cup soccer is here it will shine on all of us.

2010 the Sports Odyssey Continues

The 2010 sports odyssey continues; the Vancouver Canucks are in the playoffs with their first of 16 wins under their belt and what better way to celebrate than to give away a bunch of hockey jerseys!

The Olympics

Well the dust has settled and our city must move on, but not before we bask in the glory of what we shared with the world.  To recap; post Olympic and Paralympic games, the weather was amazing, the Canadian athletes were more amazing and the people of our city were even more amazing!  Going downtown during the games was great instead of the usual tension filled streets with drunks roaming around our streets were filled with revellers singing a common theme; GO CANADA GO!  For the first time in my life the streets were filled with the sounds of our national anthem, the entire mood of the city was electrifying.  We billed the restaurant out as the "Canadian Embassy" and decked it out with Canadian flags, on the inside we had all 12 of the men's olympic hockey country's flags hanging and we symbolically closed them as they were eliminated.
